The definition of a thankless task: since 2018 the Venkys have been putting in £20M a year to keep Blackburn at around 10th in the Championship. You really do have to wonder what they were getting out of that deal.
Thanks mate, Didn't the Venky's buy Blackburn off the back of their Premier League title? They were probably sold that as being the norm. In some respects they have been good owners, continuing to plough money in year after year, and of course Jack Walker, much like our own Dave Whelan, wasn't going to fund them forever, and probably couldn't even afford to given the way football has gone. We've had our fun sadly, and now we've just got to get on with existing and living off past glories. But they don't pay the bills do they?
I think you’re right. Social Media is crawling with experts* calling them out as terrible owners. Possibly true. Certainly not much in the way of thanks for the £160M+ spent keeping them in the Championship for eight years.
*i.e Blokes with a microphone and a webcam, who all look like they’ve never kicked a ball in anger. And they all seem to be called ‘Bro’.
